Eckland & Blando Welcomes Newest Associate

Eckland & Blando is excited to announce the addition of Michael Pluhowski, our firm’s newest associate attorney. Michael combines extensive hands-on maritime experience with a strong legal background. He is 2013 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, earned a U.S. Coast Guard Chief Mate Unlimited license, a 1600 Ton Master’s license, and serves as a Commissioned Officer in the Naval Reserve Strategic Sealift Officer Corps. Michael also instructs Surface Warfare Officers in navigation and ship handling in Newport, RI.

On the legal side, Michael earned his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2025, where he served as a summer clerk for Judge Smith of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. He also interned with a leading maritime cargo insurer and competed in the Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Competition. Michael is currently awaiting admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
